Jack was not exaggerating, the game looks easy, and the game play is easy, yet the player soon discovers that the game is more difficult to solve than it at first appears.
“Culica is the most inventive game invention since Tetris, and just as addictive,” says James Eadon, co-founder of Culica, a British company, and inventor of the game.
The screen-shot shows that Culica has a deliberately “retro” graphical style that has plenty of character and suits the game play.
Culica is one of the new games that is taking advantage of the digital distribution revolution that is being accelerated by the advent of the iPhone/App Store. Digital Distribution has forever changed the way that games are produced and accessed by the player.
“Casual gamers from ten to eighty will be playing the game in a few seconds after download. The game is fun and can be played for a few moments here and there. Yet serious players will also be hooked on the game play. Culica has that addictive ‘One More Go’ factor that defines the Great Games,” says James.
Culica has friendly, retro looks and sports original game-play that subtly changes depending on difficulty level. On easy mode the player has infinite time to complete the game at leisure and the game is completely forgiving of mistakes. Yet even in easy mode Culica is not trivial to solve. On harder modes, the player has less time, and also has to be more careful about how he moves.
Culica is a British company that produced Culica. The game was invented by James Eadon. James is an experienced software engineer by trade, is based in Hucknall, near Nottingham, and has interests from novel-writing to music composition. He has many more original games planned. Culica’s business guru and manager is Chris Ollivier, who lives near Telford, in Shropshire.
Culica is available on the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPod Touch as “Culica Mobile“, is available in many countries, and costs £0.59 or $0.99 or equivalent depending on currency.
